Bob Duff: Larkin growing steadily into more prominent role
The Detroit Red Wings asked Dylan Larkin to become a 200-foot center and to check the opposition's top line, and he's responded by doing both while leading the team in scoring. - BobDuff
Um Duff....... Larkin is the most prominent player on the team at the moment....... |

Say hypothetically the Wings get the third pick and NYI has the 7th and 12th picks. Do we trade the third for the 7/12? Do we draft Zadina/Svech and wait to see who is available at 7? |

That's a good one.
It's a deep draft year and the Wings are just terrible. I'd be all for a trade like this if the Wings didn't land the #1 pick. With the 7,12, and late 20's pick you'd be able to fill multiple holes.
I'm thinking something along the lines of Bouchard/Wahlstrom, Wilde/Dobson/Hayton, and Samuelsson/Olofsson/Kravtsov. |

Yeah, I agree. I think they’d have to make that trade. D is the biggest need and they’d lock that down with one of Bouchard/Boqvist/Hughes and then still be in a position to potentially grab Ty Smith/Wilde/Merkley or Farabee. “More spins at the wheel”.
Barring a lottery win (and potentially the above trade), I kind of hope they pick sixth. Forces them to pick a dman and I don’t have to hate them for picking between Bouchard or Boqvist. |

Tank is back in action and we have a 60 point player in Larkin. |

Habs are in supreme tank mode. We'll need to start Coreau to have any chance of losing. Isles can score at will but give up more goals than an empty net during pre game warmup. That could go either way. |

Wings sending down Svechnikov, Hicketts, and McCollum back down to GR. This is good news for some of us GR Griffins fans. Griffins are right in the thick of the AHL playoffs race and could potentially win the division going into the playoffs if they stay hot and get some help. Since Lorito is out injured getting Svech back can help the offense.
Per MLive:
Svechnikov had two goals and two assists in 14 games with the Red Wings, averaging only 8:49 in ice time. Hicketts had three assists in four games since being recalled for the second time this season. He played one previous game for Detroit. He averaged 17:21 in five games with the Red Wings. |
